Qantas A380 arrives in San Francisco to bring NFL’s 49ers to Australia

Translate

The Qantas plane that will carry the San Francisco 49ers to Melbourne ahead of the regular season game has arrived in the eponymous city.

Flight number AF6001, a chartered Qantas A380, arrived in San Francisco at 6.26pm local time, or 11.26am AEST, from Los Angeles.

The A380, tail number VH-OQD, is expected to depart San Francisco for Melbourne in a few hours, bringing the NFL team to the city ahead of its game against the Los Angeles Rams.

It’s understood the Rams will arrive the day before the September 11 game at the MCG in Melbourne.

The A380 has 14 first-class seats and 70 business-class seats. The 49ers have 53 players on their bench. The plane was specially stocked with larger sized pyjamas for the long-haul flight.

Qantas said it doesn’t comment on charter flights. In April, the airline announced a partnership with the National Football League to be its official airline partner in Australia and New Zealand.

The 49ers have been approached for comment.
