Kaizer Chiefs news and rumours: Maboe, Ndlovu, Baartman

Translate

Today’s Kaizer Chiefs news looks at an injury update on several key first-team stars. There’s also a look at their worrying form.

A bad few weeks for Maboe

Chiefs midfield maestro Lebo Maboe pulled up with an injury in Chiefs’ 0-0 draw with Golden Arrows, a match in which he also missed a penalty. The injury ruled him out of Bafana’s AFCON qualifying wins over Guinea and Eritrea. Now, there’s no certainty as to how long that thigh issue will keep him out of action. After such a strong start to the campaign, these past few weeks have brought the 32-year-old back down to earth.

Injury update from Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs will be without Maboe, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Langelihle Phili and Brandon Petersen against Stellenbosch on Wednesday. It’s a blow, given that Stellies have won the last three H2Hs. Meanwhile, Luke Baartman is on the mend but remains a doubt for the clash with Stellies.

“Chiefs still have four major injury concerns, with Brandon Petersen returning to individual training to recover a knee injury, Lebohang Maboe – who has played in all eight of Chiefs’ games this season – nursing an ankle injury, while Phili and Siphesihle Ndlovu remain long-term absentees,” the club confirmed on their website.
