Not Virat Kohli Or Rohit Sharma, Mitchell Santner Hates Facing This Indian Player

Translate

After bagging the T20I series 3-2, India take on New Zealand in an ODI series of as many matches, starting Wednesday. Veteran players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be in action, with Shubman Gill leading the side. Ahead of the start of the one-dayers, Kiwi captain Mitchell Santner and Gill answered some questions during a quick-fire round. The video of the interaction was shared on social media. When asked about one player from India he would hate facing, Santner picked Arshdeep Singh. Answering a similar question, Gill named Santner.

Watch it here:

The irrepressible Rohit Sharma and the indomitable Virat Kohli are predictably the focus of all attention on their last tour of the Southern Hemisphere, but India's thin-on-experience bowling attack gives New Zealand the upper hand in the five-match ODI series.

With Jasprit Bumrah being preserved for Test matches and the duo of Prasidh Krishna and Harshit Rana still some weeks away from an international return, workhorse Mohammed Siraj will have to shoulder an additional burden during the series.

The four other specialist fast bowlers -- Arshdeep Singh (18), Gurnoor Brar (9), Anshul Kamboj and Auqib Nabi (one each) -- have a cumulative experience of 29 ODIs.

India won't be at full strength due to the World Test Championship games scheduled shortly after the fifth and last ODI at Tauranga. The series winds up on November 15 and the first Test starts in Wellington on November 19.

Even skipper Gill will skip the last two ODIs to focus on the Tests.

India's ODI squad for the first three ODIs vs New Zealand: Shubman Gill (captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer (vice-captain), KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Axar Patel, Naman Dhir, Anshul Kamboj, Gurnoor Brar, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Arshdeep Singh, Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Nitish Kumar Reddy (only for the first ODI).

India's ODI squad for the fourth and fifth games vs New Zealand: Shreyas Iyer (captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Tilak Varma, Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper, vice-captain), Axar Patel, Naman Dhir, Auqib Nabi, Gurnoor Brar, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Arshdeep Singh, Kumar Kushagra (wicketkeeper), Mohammed Siraj, Yash Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav.
