Bob Yari’s Magenta Edge Films Nabs ‘Good Sport’ (Exclusive)

The new specialty label Magenta Edge Films has acquired Good Sport, the second feature from writer/director Andrew Jack Zuckerman, for a limited theatrical release from Sept. 20.

The distribution label of Bob Yari’s Magenta Light Studios plans screenings in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, ahead of its digital release on Oct. 13. Zuckerman co-wrote the screenplay with Dillon Orth for Good Sport, which stars Sam Landman, Mike O’Gorman, Sari Lennick, Virginia Newcomb, Elizabeth Guest, Michelle Hutchison, Darius Jones and Esera Tuaolo.

The indie follows Pat, “who is having a very bad day. His ex-wife is about to get remarried, he’s hungover, and now he has to coach his 12-year-old son’s basketball team. As Pat navigates helicopter parents, an insane opposing coach, and his own sense of failure, the game forces him to confront what matters most,” according to a synopsis from the producers.

In early 2026, Yari unveiled his specialty offshoot Magenta Edge to acquire and release indie films on theatrical and ancillary platforms. Magenta Edge acquired Good Sport after screening the title at the 2025 Dances With Films Festival. The film previously had its world premiere at Cinequest and also screened at the Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival.

“Seeing how strongly the audience responded to the film, which went on to win the festival’s narrative feature audience award, made it even more special. Good Sport is exactly the kind of inventive, filmmaker-driven independent film we created Magenta Edge to champion, and I’m thrilled to be working with Andrew and his team to bring it to audiences,” Bill Vergos, head of digital film distribution, Magenta Light Studios and Magenta Edge Films, said in a statement.

Good sport was produced by Zuckerman, Orth, John Cronin, Sari Lennick and Suresh Cedrick Pereira, with Colby Leopard serving as associate producer. Executive producers are David Walton, Steven Clark, Michael McHugh, Doug Lennick, Arlene Goodman Alm, Jay Goldberger, Jim Moscowitz, Elias Savada and Landman.

The distribution deal for Good Sport was negotiated by Vergos and C.J. Vranca for Magenta Edge Films, with Alan Green of One Two Three Media representing the filmmakers. One Two Three Media is also handling international sales.
