Golden Eaglets Coach Eboboritse Unveils WAFU B U-17 Championship Squad

Golden Eaglets head coach Eboboritse Uwejamomere has named a 25-man squad for the WAFU B U-17 Championship.

Five-time world champions Nigeria have been drawn in Group B alongside Niger Republic and hosts Burkina Faso in the regional championship, which serves as a qualifying tournament for next year’s U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Group A features Ghana, Togo and Benin Republic, who will battle for a place in the knockout stages.

Uwejamomere’s squad comprises three goalkeepers, seven defenders, eight midfielders and seven forwards.

The Eaglets are scheduled to depart Nigeria on Tuesday morning and will have eight days to fine-tune their tactical and technical preparations ahead of their opening match on October 14.

Nigeria will be hoping to make a strong start to the competition, and secure qualification for next year’s U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.

The tournament is scheduled to kick off in Burkina Faso next Wednesday.
