The Young Executive Forum has awarded full-session tuition scholarships to 10 financially disadvantaged students of Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, as part of activities marking the 50th birthday of the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, Dr Ayodele Ogunsan.
Ogunsan is an alumnus of YABATECH, and the scholarship, according to the statement, is part of efforts by members of the forum to extend his longstanding interest in youth development and education.
Speaking on the initiative, Chairman of the 50th Birthday Celebration Committee, Desmond Nnebue, said the scholarship was intended to reflect Ogunsan’s approach to mentorship and human capital development.
“Dr Ayo Ogunsan’s life is a masterclass in purposeful leadership, selflessness, and continuous investment in human capital,” Nnebue said.
He added, “By returning to his roots at YABATECH to lift 10 indigent students out of financial hardship, we are not just giving back; we are preserving a culture of mentorship and nation-building that Dr Ogunsan has spent 50 years exemplifying.”
Nnebue said removing financial barriers to education was one of the practical ways of empowering young people, adding that the beneficiaries represented the kind of future leaders Ogunsan had consistently sought to support.

The YEF was established by Ogunsan as a leadership platform for mentoring and developing emerging professionals across different sectors.
Its members said the scholarship was part of a broader commitment to sustaining what they described as Ogunsan’s emphasis on education, mentorship and human capacity development.
Ogunsan, a public servant and entrepreneur, currently heads the LSSTF, where he oversees initiatives relating to security infrastructure, inter-agency collaboration and capacity development in Lagos.
Before his appointment to the fund, he built interests in the education and security sectors and remained involved in initiatives focused on mentoring young people.
The scholarship scheme, according to the statement, combines the celebration of Ogunsan’s milestone with direct support for students at the institution that formed part of his own educational foundation.
