When his mum Mandy invites him home for tea, though, he's touched to find the Dingles gathered to show their support.
"Vinny absolutely isn't cut out for prison life, so his family comes together to take his mind off his looming day in court," explains our Emmerdale source.
"Vinny really feels the love from his nearest and dearest as they have one final family night in before his big day, and he's ready to face his fate, whatever the judge may decide.
"However, it's not long before reality sinks in for sensitive soul Vinny, and his resolve starts to wobble."

With the court hearing imminent, Vinny becomes fretful about his sentencing, leaving protective mum Mandy and stepdad Paddy to embrace the unlucky lad. Despite their reassurances that he'll be safely back home with them in no time, morose Vinny isn't so sure.
It's soon time for him to say a sombre goodbye to everyone he cares about – possibly for a very long time…
"There's a dark cloud over the village as Vinny says his farewells," continues our spy. "Vinny could be looking at a lengthy stretch in prison – it wasn't too long ago that he was loved-up with Lewis and looking to pop the question, but now it's all gone wrong.
"Even though he didn't mean to kill anyone, his careless driving caused loss of life, which is unforgivable."
