Jay-Z to headline 2027 Super Bowl halftime show: 'It's a dream come true'

Jay Z will headline the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show in February, the NFL has announced.

After weeks of speculation, it was confirmed in a joint announcement by Roc Nation, the NFL and Apple Music, that the rapper will perform on February 14 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

The announcement came ahead of the NFL’s Monday night game between the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles.

"Anticipation as to who Jay-Z might have guest star at halftime for the big game will now kick off," the NFL said in a statement. "Of course, his wife, Beyoncé, will be atop the list."

In a statement, the 56-year-old musician said: “From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey.

“Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world’s biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true.”

The headline slot comes seven years after his entertainment company, Roc Nation, partnered with the NFL to advise on and help produce the league’s entertainment presentations. Previous headliners since Roc Nation’s takeover include Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, The Weeknd and Bad Bunny.

The 2025 show featuring Kendrick Lamar has become the most-watched Super Bowl halftime show in history and also won the Emmy for outstanding music direction.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said: “When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that Jay-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him.”

The headline slot will bring Jay-Z back to the stadium where he closed his “Jay-Z 30” concerts over the weekend.

He was joined by an array of artists over his two-night residency, including Lauryn Hill, Giggs, Idris Elba, DJ Khaled, Sampha and Dave.

Jay-Z, whose given name is Shawn Carter, has become one of hip-hop’s most decorated names since rising to fame with his debut album, Reasonable Doubt, was released in 1996.

His accolades include being the first rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, winning 25 Grammy awards and being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021.
