More details have emerged about 23-year-old Latifa Akumu Orimba, whose body was discovered stuffed in courier bags and dumped in River Nithi after she was reported missing.

Latifa’s death has plunged her family and friends into mourning, with her aunt, Jaber Nyoremo, sharing an emotional tribute highlighting the devastating circumstances surrounding her passing.

The tragedy has been made even more painful by the fact that Latifa had lost her mother only weeks before her own death.

In a social media post on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, Jaber shared a photograph taken on October 3, 2026, showing Latifa eulogising her late mother.

The aunt revealed that the family had no idea they would be mourning the 23-year-old less than a month after the photograph was taken.

“This photo was taken on 3rd October 2026. On this day, Latifa Akumu Orimba was eulogising her late mom; little did we know that less than a month later we would be mourning her too…. Why kill someone’s child like a dog? Stuff her body in a bag and toss her in a river like trash?” Jaber wrote.

Aunt questions cruelty inflicted on Latifa

In another emotional message, Jaber questioned how anyone could subject her relative to such brutality, particularly when she was still grieving the loss of her mother.

She expressed disbelief at the circumstances surrounding Latifa’s death, describing those responsible as cold-hearted and questioning how a 23-year-old could be subjected to such treatment.

“Yaani mtoto wa brother yangu munafanyia unyama hivi? A 23yr old child who is still in deep mourning? Eeii mimi sielewi how people can be this cold-blooded and heartless?” she added.

Her messages reflected the family’s anguish as they struggle to come to terms with the loss while seeking answers over the circumstances that led to the young woman’s death.

Emotional scenes as Latifa’s body arrives at funeral home

In a subsequent update, Jaber shared a video showing the arrival of Latifa’s body at a funeral home.

The footage captured heartbreaking scenes as the body was removed from a vehicle, with those present visibly overcome by grief.

The person recording the video could be heard crying uncontrollably while repeatedly saying, “May God be with you.”

Meanwhile, Latifa’s ex-boyfriend is reportedly in police custody as investigations into the young woman’s death continue.
