Help keep Table Mountain clean on ‘Take a Hike Day’

Mark your calendars, hiking and nature enthusiasts! The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company (TMACC) is hosting its annual “Take a Hike Day” initiative next weekend.
This conservation initiative – in partnership with Table Mountain National Park – takes place annually on Table Mountain in Cape Town. The goal is for members of the public to hike up the famous landmark and pick up and dispose of litter as they do so.
Here are all the event details:
‘TAKE A HIKE DAY’: TIME AND DATE
The event is slated for Saturday, 14 November 2026. Should the cableway be closed, it will then take place on Sunday, 15 November 2026.
Check-in for pre-registered participants opens at 05:30 and closes at 07:00.
Afterwards, participants will gather at the starting points of three popular hiking routes: Platteklip Gorge Trail, Kloof Corner and the Lower Station Contour Path.
TMACC strongly recommends that the Contour Path is for experienced hikers only.
TABLE MOUNTAIN CONSERVATION TAKES A HIKE
Once you’ve checked in, you will receive a bin bag, water and a wristband (you are encouraged to bring your own gloves and litter pickers). Afterwards, you can embark on your hike.
Whichever route you choose, you can pick up any litter along the way and deposit it into your bin bag.
Once you’ve completed your hike and collected enough litter, you will then head to the Twelve Apostles Terrace, just below the Shop at the Top and TEN67 Eatery. There you can exchange your bin bag for a snack pack and a free ride down the mountain in the cable car.
Take note that hand-ins will end at 12:00.
