Wet, windy Thursday parts of Luzon, Visayas on Thursday – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon or habagat, will continue affecting parts of Luzon and the Visayas, where rains and strong winds are expected on Thursday, according to the state weather bureau.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 5 p.m. weather advisory that cloudy skies with scattered rains may affect the following areas due to the enhanced habagat:

• Metro Manila
• Cagayan Valley
• Rest of Cordillera Administrative Region
• Rest of Central Luzon
• Cavite
• Batangas 
• Rizal
• Occidental Mindoro

Meanwhile, occasional monsoon rains may also prevail over Ilocos region, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, and Bataan.

Isolated rain showers and moderate to strong gusts of winds may also affect the Visayas and other parts of Luzon, also due to the “habagat”, according to Pagasa.

“Yung napapansin natin na malalakas na pabugsubugsong hangin sa ngayon sa ating bansa, yan po ay dahil sa southwest monsoon at hindi naman dahil kay Pilandok or dahil kay Saudel. So within the next three days or hanggang sa araw po ng Biyernes ay pabugsubugso pa rin po ang hangin sa may Luzon, malaking bahagi ng Visayas,” Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja said.

(The strong and gusty winds currently being observed across the country are due to the southwest monsoon, not Pilandok or Saudel. So, over the next three days, or until Friday, gusty winds will persist over Luzon and large parts of the Visayas.) /gsg
