Nicole Kidman reveals she was warned about marrying Tom Cruise - and here's how she responded

Nicole Kidman has revealed her response to warnings about her marriage to Tom Cruise. The celebrity pair first met in 1990 while filming Days of Thunder before getting married one year later.
The former couple went on to adopt two children, a daughter and a son, and had numerous film collaborations, including Eyes Wide Shut, Far and Away and August. In 2001, they announced their plans to divorce.
Since then, Kidman and Cruise have gone on to have other relationships. The Moulin Rouge! star wed Keith Urban, while the Mission Impossible actor married Katie Holmes.

In an interview with British Vogue, Kidman revealed that she was initially discouraged from her marriage to Cruise for the sake of her career.
"Yeah, I got married so young," she said. "Suddenly I was 22, 23 years old and I had this huge movie star husband. But it just seemed completely natural.
"We just fell madly in love and it was that simple. I remember people saying to me, ‘OK, well this is really going to affect your career.’ I’m like, ‘I don’t care. I’m in love. I want to be married.’
"And then I was his ‘wife’ and they were like, ‘See, we told you.’ I’m like, ‘So what? I wasn’t meant to marry the man I love? Of course I’ll throw my career away. I don’t care’."

However, their warning never came to fruition as Kidman has had a hugely successful career, with hit films under her belt, including The Others, Babygirl, Practical Magic, Paddington and Being the Ricardos to name a few.
Next year, Kidman is reprising her role as Gillian Owens in Practical Magic 2, alongside Sandra Bullock as her sister Sally Owens, with the two also serving as producers.
Other familiar faces include Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest, who are reprising their roles as Sally and Gillian's aunts, Jet and Franny Owens. Meanwhile, newcomers to the sequel include Joey King, Maisie Williams and Lee Pace.
Practical Magic 2 is set to be released in UK cinemas on 11 September 2026.
