Urgent travel warning for those using Cape Town International Airport

Travellers flying through Cape Town International Airport have been warned to allow extra time for their journeys as high passenger volumes are currently resulting in long queues.

The airport said it is currently experiencing high passenger volumes, which has resulted in increased waiting times for travellers.

Passengers have been urged to plan ahead and arrive well before their scheduled departure time.

Travellers urged to arrive early

The airport recommends that passengers travelling on domestic flights arrive at least three hours before departure.

Those flying internationally should allow even more time, with passengers advised to arrive at least four hours before their scheduled departure.

The additional time is intended to allow passengers to complete check-in and clear security screening without risking missing their flights.

“Travellers are advised to arrive at least three hours before domestic flights and four hours before international flights to allow sufficient time for check-in and security screening.”

Cape Town International Airport thanked passengers for their patience while the airport manages the increased passenger volumes.

Don’t leave it until the last minute

Travellers are advised to factor the longer queues into their journey plans and allow sufficient time for potential delays inside the terminal.

Passengers who arrive late could face additional pressure if they still need to check in luggage or clear security before boarding.

The airport has not indicated how long the current queues are expected to last.
