Former tahfiz school head held over alleged sexual assault of 3 students

A former mudir (headmaster) of a tahfiz school here has been remanded for five days from today to assist investigations into the alleged sexual assault of three male students, aged 13 and 14, in incidents between April and September last year.

Dungun police chief Nik Ab Halim Nik Mat said the remand order was issued by magistrate Ng Yan Ni to facilitate investigations under Sections 14(b) and 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

He said the 26-year-old man, who now works as a part-time teacher at a religious school in the district, was arrested at his home in Paka here at about 11pm last night.

“Police received three reports regarding the incidents yesterday, and preliminary investigations found that all three victims were former students of the school in 2025,” he said when contacted.
