BAGUIO CITY — About five tons of fresh carrots were distributed to residents, motorists, and tourists in Baguio City on Aug. 22, as farmers in Benguet faced difficulties selling their produce because of a lack of buyers and high transportation costs.

Benguet farmers led by Ruel Padil donated the carrots, which personnel of Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) Police Station 4 distributed along Loakan Major Mane Road.

The BCPO Tourist Police Unit also helped distribute the carrots to residents and tourists in the city.

The distribution came as farmers in some parts of Benguet had been disposing of carrots and other vegetables because they could not find buyers willing to purchase their produce at prices that would cover production and transportation costs.

The Tourist Police Unit, under the supervision of Police Maj. Edith Aspilan, thanked Padil and the farmers of San Valley Trading Inc. for donating the locally grown produce. /mcm
