Rajpal Yadav tells Supreme Court his next film will be on his 16-year cheque-bounce battle, reveals the title 'Solah Sawan Jhel Ke'

Rajpal Yadav personally addressed the Supreme Court on Wednesday during the hearing of his cheque-bounce case. He spoke about the money and career he says he has lost over the last 13 years, including a Rs 17 crore loss on his 2012 film 'Ata Pata Laapata'.

The court also accepted his proposal to sell his ancestral property to clear the dues.

Rajpal Yadav speaks directly to the Chief Justice

The hearing took a lighter turn when the Chief Justice encouraged Rajpal Yadav to return to filmmaking. According to the Bar and Bench report, CJI Surya Kant told him, "Koi nayi movie aa rahi hai? Koi achi si movie banake logo ko dobara entertain karo. Aapki image dobara ban jaegi. Humare yahan kuch advocate bhi ache actor hain, unko leke koi movie banao (Is there a new movie coming out? Make a good movie and entertain people again; that will help rebuild your image.

We have some lawyers here who are also good actors. Can make a movie featuring them)."Rajpal Yadav replied that he had already thought of a title for a film based on his experiences between 2010 and 2026."Sir, 2010 se 2026 tak jo hua, uska title bhi humne socha hai, Solah Sawan Jhel Ke (Sir, I have even thought of a title for everything that happened from 2010 to 2026: Solah Sawan Jhel Ke)," he said. The title roughly means "having endured 16 monsoons". It drew attention because it points to the long legal and financial troubles he described in court.

The actor has been part of the cheque-bounce dispute for several years, and the matter has continued in court since the early 2010s. Wednesday's exchange offered a rare light moment in an otherwise serious hearing.

Supreme Court accepts plan to sell ancestral property

The Supreme Court accepted Rajpal Yadav's proposal to sell his ancestral property to clear the dues linked to the case. The bench, comprising CJI Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V Mohana, also noted that he had made arrangements to pay Rs 2 crore immediately through demand drafts.Yadav submitted demand drafts worth Rs 1.15 crore. The remaining Rs 85 lakh is to be paid by a prospective buyer of his property by October 12. The court took note of these arrangements and said it would decide on a schedule for paying the remaining amount.
