Ligue 1: Nnadi Bags Assist As Marseille Thrash Angers

Translate

Super Eagles midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi played the entire 90 minutes and provided an assist as Marseille secured a resounding 5-2 victory over Angers in Sunday’s Ligue 1 encounter.

The Nigerian international, making his fourth appearance for Marseille, delivered a vital performance in the visitor’s midfield. Recurring injuries have limited Nnadi’s playing time so far this season, making his full 90-minute display a welcome boost.

The hosts drew first blood early when Lilian Raolisoa struck in the 14th minute to put Angers ahead. However, Marseille steadily grew into the match, capitalizing on 58% possession to turn the scoreline around before halftime.

Himad Abdelli leveled the match in the 37th minute, and Nouhoum Kamissoko quickly added a second just before the break in the 43rd minute to give the visitors a 2-1 lead.

Marseille kept their foot on the gas after the restart. Though Amine Gouiri had a penalty saved in the 59th minute, he instantly made up for it by firing home from open play moments later to extend the lead to 3-1.

Angers fought back when Amine El Ouazzani converted a penalty in the 74th minute to make it 3-2, offering the home side a brief glimmer of hope.

However, any thoughts of a comeback were swiftly put to bed as Marseille’s relentless attack punished Angers late in the game. Amine Harit netted in the 83rd minute, and Igor Paixão added a fifth in the 85th minute to seal the comfortable 5-2 away victory.
