Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has opened up on the emotional journey behind Napoli’s historic Serie A title triumph, revealing how passionate grown fans and manager Luciano Spalletti fueled their unforgettable Scudetto charge.

Recalling the intense atmosphere during their title-winning run, the prolific forward shared how deeply the championship meant to the local community, with veteran supporters shedding tears and pleading for glory.

“You see grown men crying and telling us, ‘Please, try to win the Scudetto,’” Osimhen recounted.

For many fans, the victory carried generational weight. Osimhen noted that supporters often shared memories of being taken to the stadium by their grandfathers when the club last claimed the league crown, adding that those fans now had families of their own and were desperate to relive that glory.

Sitting just two points off the summit during the campaign, belief within the squad began to soar. Crucial to this mindset was manager Luciano Spalletti, who masterfully connected the team to the city’s rich culture and heritage.

“Spalletti used to say a lot about the city, used to give us some great insight about how the city was, and what it is going to be if we win the Scudetto,” Osimhen stated.

Fuelled by the manager’s guidance, the players constantly motivated one another. As the season progressed and the team began securing statement victories against heavyweights in the league, the realization that they could actually write their names in history set in.

Ultimately, while the squad delivered stellar performances on the pitch, Osimhen credited their tactical mastermind as the true catalyst for breaking the long-standing championship drought.
