Final Fantasy 15 Officially Returns October 22

Released back in 2016 in the fictional world of Eos, Final Fantasy 15 follows Noctis Lucis Caelum, heir to the Lucian throne, who must embark on a quest to rescue the Crystal and defeat Niflheim. However, he soon realizes that he is none other than the "True King" who is destined to wield the Crystal's powers in order to save Eos from eternal darkness.
Originally planned as a spin-off titled Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Final Fantasy 15 soon became a standalone title and the next mainline entry in the long-running Square Enix franchise, and with widespread praise from critics, it seems as though this was the right choice, even if fans do not quite agree.
As our very own Lee D'Amato shared in his post titled FF15 Might Actually Be One Of The Most Important Final Fantasy Games: "The first half (or maybe more like two-thirds) of FF15 takes place in a somewhat linear open world: players are given free rein to explore large areas, taking on quests as they please. You unlock new slices of it piecemeal — pivotal events see you breaking down literal roadblocks, opening the way to new regions. Later, the game becomes incredibly linear, and remains so through the rest of the main campaign and all of FF15's DLCs. The open world is nice while you have it, even if it has its flaws, but its influence on later games is clear."
Now, over a decade on from the launch of Final Fantasy 15, it is set to return in another exciting new release coming later this month.
Despite receiving some mixed reviews, one thing that fans can agree on is that Final Fantasy 15 includes some of the franchise's most memorable characters, including the likes of Ignis, Prompto, Gladiolus, and, of course, the protagonist, Noctis and now, the latter is set to make a triumphant return on 22 October.
As we all know, Final Fantasy Resonance is set to launch on this date as an adaptation of the 2015 mobile game Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. Returning the pixel-art graphics we all remember, this installment is set to be one of the biggest video game launches of 2026, especially as it will bring back some of the franchise's most beloved characters, including Noctis Lucis Caelum.
In a brand-new Final Fantasy Resonance trailer, we can see Noctis in action, appearing as a Vision — a phantom echo which players can equip throughout the game to take on their abilities. With Noctis being able to be summoned, your enemies will not stand a chance. He will be starring alongside Final Fantasy 2's Firion, Final Fantasy 9's Zidane, and Final Fantasy 6's Terra as Visions, making for one badass roster indeed.
We went hands-on with Final Fantasy Resonance at Gamescom this year and found it to be a stylish mix of old and new, with more of an emphasis on the old. It's shaping up to be the kind of classic Final Fantasy adventure we've wanted to play for years, and we can't wait to check it out again.
