EastEnders' Craig tells shocking lie as Amy is drawn into dark cover-up

EastEnders newcomer DC Craig Ingram told a shocking lie to Amy Mitchell tonight (August 18) as his worrying relationship with the teen continues. Craig has been investigating the attack on Joel Marshall in recent weeks and has grown close to Amy.
In Thursday's episode, Amy confessed to Craig that she was the one who hit Joel with the hammer. Then last night, viewers saw Amy fretting over coming clean to Craig.

The pair met up in the park and Craig told Amy he was doing everything he could to keep her name out of the picture. But later Craig went to a meeting with his superior at the police station who told him he was suspended after a complaint was made against him.
Tonight, Amy and Craig met up again, with the detective telling the teen that what she did was wrong but Joel deserved it.
He then said he had decided to recuse himself from the case and would not be handing in the evidence he has as Amy and her family are going through enough at the moment.
Craig went on to tell Amy that he liked her and they were now in this together and had to trust each other, adding: "Anything you need, I'm your friend."

However Amy was still left feeling on edge and asked to meet with Craig again later after she shouted at Joel in the cafe.
But Craig once again tried to convince Amy that Joel deserved what happened to him and she doesn't deserve to be punished.
Craig then reiterated that he was there for Amy and she replied that she was lucky to have him. How long will Craig be able to keep Amy in the dark and protect her big secret?
