Rishab Shetty to play Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in two-part historical epic

‘Kantara’ fame actor and filmmaker Rishab Shetty joined hands with director Sandeep Singh on the upcoming period drama ‘The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’. The Kannada actor will be seen portraying the legendary 17th-century Maratha warrior king.

and Sandeep Singh shared a portrait of Shivaji Maharaj while announcing their collaboration. The makers also confirmed that the ambitious project will go on floors in early 2027.Sharing the announcement, they wrote, “Swarajya was not just a dream, it was a vision that shaped history. Starring Rishab Shetty, directed by Sandeep Singh and produced by Bhushan Kumar, this ambitious saga is set to go on floors in early 2027.

‘The Pride of Bharat’ is a two-part historical epic

The film is set to be a two part biographical drama based on the life and legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who founded the Maratha kingdom.

The project was launched shortly before Shivaji Maharaj’s 394th birth anniversary in February 2024. It also marks the feature film directorial debut of Sandeep Singh.Apart from Rishab Shetty in the lead role, the film features Arjun Rampal and Vivek Oberoi in pivotal roles. Music composer Amit Trivedi is handling the soundtrack, marking his first Hindi historical film.It will be released in multiple languages.

Rishab Shetty’s upcoming mythological epic

Meanwhile, Rishab Shetty is also preparing for his next major project, ‘Jai Hanuman’, directed by Prasanth Varma, who earlier made ‘HanuMan’. Rishab will portray Lord Hanuman in the mythological epic, while Rana Daggubati is also part of the cast. Teja Sajja is expected to make a special appearance.
