PH denies involvement in PN suspension

MELAKA: Pakatan Harapan (PH) has denied allegations that it was behind the suspension of Perikatan Nasional by the Registrar of Societies (RoS), describing the matter as an internal conflict within the opposition coalition.
Melaka PKR chairman Adam Adli Abd Halim said PH had no involvement in the matter and rejected claims by Gerakan president Datuk Dr Dominic Lau that the suspension was politically motivated.
"We reject these allegations. This has nothing to do with us. It is not our strategy, and we are not involved at all.
"That is their internal conflict," he said at a press conference at the PH main operations centre.
Also present were Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and Bentong member of parliament Young Syefura Othman.
Adam said PH remained focused on ensuring that the state election was conducted democratically, allowing Melaka voters to determine their next state government.
"We have made it clear that the election in Melaka is a democratic process to give voters the opportunity to decide who should form the state government.
"It has nothing to do with any disputes or political disagreements unrelated to the electoral process," he said.
Yesterday, Lau claimed that PN's suspension by the RoS was part of PH's political agenda ahead of the Melaka election.
"Why was PN suspended only now? This is a malicious intent. This is a political decision, this is indeed PH's agenda," Lsu was quoted as saying during PN's candidate announcement ceremony on Thursday.
Lau also alleged that the move was intended to help Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim secure a second term in office.
He claimed the matter was linked to PKR's congress in Melaka on Aug 16, where discussions included efforts to ensure Anwar remained prime minister for another term.
On Oct 22, the High Court granted PN a stay against the RoS decision to revoke its registration, pending the disposal of its judicial review application.

The court also stayed the enforcement of an RoS notice suspending the coalition's activities, allowing PN to continue its political activities, including contesting the Melaka election.
Meanwhile, Adam said PH would focus on promoting its candidates and their policies throughout the campaign period.
He said the coalition would also reject personal attacks and divisive political tactics, particularly those targeting younger candidates.
The Melaka election is scheduled for Nov 14, with early voting on Nov 10.
