IGP confirms ex-Negeri Sembilan exco members to be summoned

Inspector-General of Police Khalid Ismail has confirmed that the 10 former members of the Negeri Sembilan executive council will be summoned to assist in an investigation into the state’s ongoing royal and administrative crisis.

Khalid said they will be summoned to give their statements from tomorrow, adding that multiple police reports have been lodged over the issue.

He said the statements of several other parties will also be taken to complete the investigation, Bernama reported.

“Many police reports have been filed by certain parties. We will investigate and record the statements of all involved, including the former exco members,” he said.

Khalid refrained from disclosing any details on the investigation but did not dismiss the possibility of classifying the case under the Sedition Act.

Yesterday, a source told FMT that the 10 sacked Negeri Sembilan executive councillors will be questioned by federal police in Seremban.

Last Sunday, the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, revoked the appointments of the 10 exco members.

The palace said the exco members were found to have breached their oaths of office and pledge of allegiance to the state ruler, which they took on Aug 7.

The revocation of the appointments came a week after the exco released a joint statement purportedly affirming Tuanku Muhriz’s removal as the state ruler.

On Friday, Wawasan chairman and former Senate president Rais Yatim pleaded not guilty after he was charged with sedition in connection with the purported proclamation of a new Negeri Sembilan Yang Dipertuan Besar.
