Azeez makes PFA Championship Team of the Year

Millwall striker Femi Azeez has been named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year after an impressive 2025/26 campaign in the English second tier, where he scored 11 goals and provided seven assists, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Azeez was honoured at the PFA Awards on Tuesday, joining some of the standout performers in English club football in the Championship Team of the Year.

The Nigerian is joined in the Team of the Year by Coventry City goalkeeper Carl Rushworth, with the newly-promoted EPL side dominating with more players including Milan van Ewijk, Bobby Thomas, Matt Grimes, Jack Rudoni and Haji Wright.

Millwall defender Tristan Crama, Southampton’s Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney and Swansea City striker Zan Vipotnik complete the list.

Azeez’s impressive campaign also earned him a call-up to the Nigeria national team under coach Eric Chelle.

The 25-year-old justified his invitation by scoring twice against Zimbabwe and providing an assist against Jamaica during Nigeria’s Unity Cup triumph in May.

His performances for Millwall and Nigeria have further strengthened his reputation as one of the Championship’s standout attacking players.
