Andhra woman dies in freak accident after elevator moves with door open

Woman died in a horrifying lift accident in Ongole on Sunday.

VIJAYAWADA: A horrifying lift accident in Ongole has claimed the life of a 50-year-old woman after an elevator at Surya Towers allegedly moved down suddenly with its door open, leaving her with little time to react.

The incident, which occurred on Sunday, has raised serious questions over lift safety and maintenance in buildings.The victim, identified as Vanitha, had reportedly entered the lift along with her daughter and grandson. The daughter and grandson managed to get out of the elevator. However, as Vanitha was preparing to step out, the lift reportedly began moving down all of a sudden while its door was still open.Caught off guard, Vanitha allegedly tried to get out of the moving lift in a hurry.

In the process, she became trapped and suffered severe injuries.People at Surya Towers immediately rushed to the spot and managed to rescue her. She was shifted to a hospital for treatment, but her condition reportedly deteriorated and she eventually succumbed to her injuries.A video of the horrifying incident has since gone viral on social media, drawing widespread attention to the dangers posed by malfunctioning lifts.
