Fallout 4 has a complicated legacy. The wait between Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 was massive (2008 to 2015), so expectations were incredibly high. Although Fallout: New Vegas came in between and wowed everyone, that was crafted by Obsidian, and everyone wanted to see what Bethesda had up their sleeve.

Despite all that, the wait for Fallout 5 has been even harder for fans. We haven't even gotten a whiff of gameplay, and other than knowing it exists, we aren't even sure where it's going to take place.

Thankfully, the original Fallout series is still accessible on most platforms, including Fallout 4. Thanks to this Fallout 4 expansion, you can explore a brand new area, and even chat with voiced NPCs.

Willowfield Expansion Zombies

Thanks to a new Fallout 4 Creations drop, you can pick up the massive Willowfield expansion now, which is stuffed with quests, voiced NPCs, and a new settlement. It's still being updated this month, and it's available on PC and Xbox.

Here's a basic overview of what you're getting: "An entirely built-from-scratch landmass (approximately 225 cells in playable area) with various biomes. Extensive wetland, an urban ruin and semi-forested hilly areas. The landscape is dotted with locations to loot and hostile creatures, mutants and raiders to fight."

There are also two new quests with fully voiced NPCs, totaling roughly 300 voice lines. On top of that, there are four dungeons that you can explore, as well as a "fifth small interior" and other structures around the world that have been added due to the expansion. You can also connect a settlement with the Commonwealth if you're into that aspect of the game.

To get there, you'll need to go to Vault 111, then head north. At the edge of the map, you'll find a Willowfield fast travel point, shown as a pine tree on your compass. Starting the expansion is just as easy: go to the Willowfield Ruins, then simply walk into the Nuka Cola building.

Willowfield Expansion

Fallout 4 is perhaps the game to benefit from Creations the most out of all of Bethesda's catalog. It's often considered one of the more polarizing entries in their body of work, so the ability to "fix" things people didn't like about it, or add more content where a zone was lifeless, is incredibly appealing.

While games like Skyrim have massive Creation fanbases too, a lot of those classics already have a ton of content to explore by default. But with Fallout 4, now people can craft it into the game they want. Expansions like Willowfield are a fantastic way to breathe new life into the game.
