NDC elections underway across the country as over 15,000 delegates vote for new executives

Translate

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is holding its internal elections across the country today, Saturday, October 24, with over 15,000 delegates casting their ballots to elect new constituency executives.

The exercise, taking place at designated polling centres, has so far been generally smooth in some constituencies, although delays have been reported at certain voting centres.

In the Central Region, voting is underway in several constituencies, with delegates participating in the exercise to elect executives who will oversee the party's activities at the grassroots level.

At the Cape Coast North polling centre, located at the New Examination Centre of the University of Cape Coast, the Central Regional Police Commander, DCOP Bossman Ohene Boadi, assured delegates and aspirants of adequate security to ensure a peaceful electoral process.

Addressing police personnel during a last-minute engagement ahead of voting, DCOP Boadi warned that the police would not tolerate hooliganism or violence during the exercise.

He emphasised the need for officers to remain vigilant and maintain law and order throughout the voting process.

About 1,350 delegates are expected to vote in the Cape Coast North Constituency, while another 1,050 delegates are expected to participate in the Cape Coast South Constituency.

In the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Constituency, approximately 1,728 delegates are expected to elect new constituency executives from a field of 53 aspirants.

Reports from the constituency indicate that the voting process has been smooth so far, with delegates participating in the exercise.

Meanwhile, in the Volta Region, about 2,300 delegates are expected to participate in the elections in the Ho Central Constituency.

At the OLA Senior High School polling centre, the electoral process has been proceeding smoothly despite a delayed start.

The elections form part of the NDC's internal democratic processes aimed at selecting constituency leaders to manage party affairs and strengthen its organisational structures.

Security personnel have been deployed to maintain order at voting centres, while party officials and election supervisors oversee the process.
