Former AOA star Kwon Mina talks about past bullying allegations

Back in 2020, bullying allegations within the former K-pop group AOA shook the fandom and caused considerable controversy. After Kwon Mina alleged that the group's leader, Shin Ji-min, bullied her for a decade, many were shocked.

Now, years later, the former idol shared a post on her account addressing the issues that happened within the group all those years ago.

Six years after the bullying allegations became public, former idol Mina took to her Instagram account on September 27 to look back on her time in the industry. The post, which has since been deleted from her socials, also mentioned her time in AOA and the bullying she faced within the group.She started her post by saying, "At some point, there was a reason I started standing up for myself and stopped letting unfair treatment or being wronged slide. Eventually, uncomfortable things started being said to me, and toward the end, my voice became quieter, and I couldn't control my expressions properly, so I was put to sleep with medication. From your perspective, how annoying must it have been that you couldn't torment me anymore?"

Kwon Mina explained why she continues to speak up about the issue

The former member of AOA also posted about how she will continue to speak out on the matter, even after many people have asked if she ever gets tired of addressing the issue of bullying.

She mentioned, "If something happened once 11 years ago, you might be able to forget it. You might think the wound could eventually heal. But what happened over 11 years is different. Rather than making that woman's story the main focus, I don't want to be seen as someone who is easy to push around like I was back then.

I want to say what I have to say directly, refuse when I want to refuse, and say when something makes me uncomfortable."She also wrote about her frustration with the legal system and how often cases favour those who committed the wrongdoing. She mentioned that victims must do everything on their own, which includes gathering evidence, witnesses, lawyers, and money themselves; however, defendants can be given consideration based on many factors in court.Kwon Mina debuted with AOA in 2012 and left the group in 2019. A year later, she made many posts on her account, accusing Ji-Min of bullying her during her tenure with the group and causing her much pain. Following this, Ji-Min officially left the group and halted all of her entertainment-related activities at the time. Mina also stepped away from the entertainment industry altogether; however, she continues to interact with fans and stay active on her accounts.
