Skytrain delays due to problem at Asok station

Skytrain services were suffering delays on the Sukhumvit Line because of a problem at Asok station, the BTS operator said on Monday.

Trains between Khu Khot and Phloen Chit stations, and another sector between Bang Chak and Kheha stations were running normally, the announcement said. 

Services were delayed between Phloen Chit and Bang Chak stations as an electrical problem was detected at Asok station. It surfaced about 9.45am. Further details were not released. 

Several posts on X reported that as of 11.30am no trains had departed Asok, with passengers left standing on the platforms.

Many commuters using the skytrain aired their anger, saying BTS gave no explanation for the delays. Passengers were still allowed to enter stations where the platforms were already packed with waiting passengers.

The Bangkok Post checked the X and Facebook skytrain accounts and saw no company posts about the problem. 

The problem occurred the day after a fire on the MRT tracks between Tao Poon and Bang Pho stations on Sunday forced the operator to halt services. Normal operations resumed on Monday morning.

The affected BTS service is known as the Green Line, and Sunday's MRT interruption was on the Blue Line.

The skytrain is run by Bangkok Mass Transit System Plc and the MRT is operated by Bangkok Expressway and Metro Plc.
