FIFA has opened the tender process for the media rights of the 2030 FIFA World Cup and a further option to secure the 2034 edition. This is exclusively for the United States and Puerto Rico.
On Thursday, FIFA said in a press release, it is looking for a broadcaster that can reach large audiences through innovative approaches as well as be able to contribute revenues to the benefit of football, with the deadline for submission of bids set on November 19.
“We are looking for a partner who shares our commitment to innovation, who can bring every moment of the action to fans wherever and however they choose to watch, and who is committed to the next phase of football’s growth in North America,” said Mattias Grafstrom, FIFA Secretary General.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, broadcast by Fox (in English) and Telemundo (in Spanish), was watched in the region by an average of 13.5 million viewers per match. This marked a 166% increase in viewership compared to the previous World Cup in Qatar.
The 2030 World Cup will be co-hosted by Spain, Portugal and Morocco, while Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay will stage the inaugural matches for the 100th anniversary. Saudi Arabia has won the rights to host the 2034 World Cup.
FIFA said, “Through the sale of media rights for its football tournaments, it generates income which is essential to support and develop football around the world, including through the FIFA Forward Development Programme.”
