Magen David Adom brings back 'Mitzvah on Wheels' traveling sukkah ambulance initiative

Magen David Adom has brought back its "Mitzvah on Wheels" initiative, consisting of a sukkah on the back of an ambulance, for the fifth year in a row.

The initiative was started by Rabbi Yonatan Shpitzer, a volunteer MDA driver, in 2020, in order to bring the "spirit of sukkot" to MDA teams.

Throughout the holiday, Shpitzer will travel with his ambulance-sukkah to MDA sites across the country, giving MDA teams the opportunity to make the blessing on the Arba Minim (four species).

Shpitzer launched initiative during COVID-19 lockdown

"I launched the 'Traveling Sukkah' initiative during the COVID-19 lockdowns - when people couldn't leave their homes - with the aim of bringing the holiday spirit to MDA EMTs and paramedics in the field," Shpitzer said. "I never imagined it would become such a moving tradition.

"Every year, I feel deeply excited to bring the holiday spirit to the MDA teams who work around the clock to save lives. For me, it is a profound mission to enable as many people as possible to fulfill the commandment of the Four Species. I wish the entire People of Israel a year of joy, health, and success.
