Asian Games 2026: Kamaljeet-Suruchi win gold in 10m air pistol mixed team after breaking Asian Record

India won its second gold medal of the ongoing Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, after Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh finished first in the 10m air pistol mixed team final on Friday.

This joins the gold medal won by the women’s cricket team earlier at the Games after it had beaten Sri Lanka in the summit clash.

The Indian pair also shattered the Asian Record with its 484.6 tally, breaking the 481.3 score set by Uzbekistan’s Mukhammad Kamalov and Nigina Saidkulova earlier this year.

Kamaljeet, who was named as Kedarling Balakrishna Uchaganve’s replacement for this event on the eve of the event, and Suruchi kept themselves ahead of the pack for most of the final.

They had a 5.8-point lead at the top of the standings when Indonesia was eliminated as the fourth-placed team.

South Korea’s Suhyeon Hong and Gaeun Choo clinched silver with 478.0, while Iran’s Vahid Golkhandan and Haniyeh Rostamiyan bagged bronze with 415.8.

Earlier, the Indian pair broke the Asian Games Qualification Record with a score of 587 (29 inner 10s), going past the earlier record of 577 set by another Indian duo, Sarabjot Singh and Divya Subbaraju, in Hangzhou 2023.

Moreover, Kamaljeet and Suruchi’s qualification tally also equalled the Asian Record, matching the feat achieved by Saurabh Chaudhary and Manu Bhaker in 2021.
