Boy, 8, injured in attack by stray dogs at Kelantan beach

An eight-year-old boy was injured in an attack by a pack of stray dogs at Kuala Kemasin beach in Bachok, Kelantan, on Thursday.
Bachok police chief Ismail Jamaluddin said a report was lodged by a worker at a nearby resort.
According to Sinar Harian, the boy, identified as Azuar Firdaus Zuraiman, suffered bite wounds to his head and neck in the 9.30am incident.
His father, Zuraiman Mahmod, 47, said Azuar was playing with five other relatives when about five dogs ran towards them. The children fled, but Azuar fell and was attacked.
Zuraiman said Azuar managed to fight off the dogs and run into the sea, but they continued chasing him until the water reached his neck.
A foreign worker who was nearby chased the dogs away and rescued Azuar.
Azuar was taken to the Balai health clinic before being referred to Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II in Kota Bharu, where his wounds were stitched.
