Flood-hit island barangay folk in Dagupan City get DSWD aid
DAGUPAN CITY — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) extended assistance to residents of two flood-stricken island barangays in this city despite intermittent heavy rains that made the areas difficult to reach.
Many residents of Lomboy and Salapingao depend on fishing for their livelihood but have been unable to go to sea for several days because of inclement weather.
On Saturday, DSWD social workers, known as Angels in Red Vests, distributed 1,237 Family Food Packs (FFPs) in the two island barangays in coordination with the city government.

The agency also distributed 77 FFPs in Barangay 1, which remains flooded, and another 1,670 FFPs in Barangay Malued, where families have been severely affected by the weather disturbances.

In nearby Calasiao, DSWD and the local government conducted child-friendly activities for 105 children staying at the sports complex, which is being used as an evacuation center.
