Coronation Street's Paula star wants longer stint on the cobbles

Coronation Street star Kelli Hollis has outlined her intention to stay on the ITV soap for a longer stint ahead of her comeback, with the actor also teasing that there will be plenty more drama coming.
The actor is due to reprise her role as Paula, the ex-cellmate of Debbie Webster, later on this week, though it is believed that her return is only for a short stint. But with a teaser confirming that she'd get in a spat with her old foe, it will be dramatic.

Speaking to The Mirror about the upcoming scenes, Hollis shared that she was surprised to have been asked back by producers, but was very much looking forward to reprising her role.
"They reached out pretty quickly and booked me for August," recalled the actor, who played Ali Spencer fellow ITV soap Emmerdale. "It was like, 'What are they going to do? How are they going to pull this character?'
"[Paula] wasn't very nice to Debbie in jail. So, to be actually on the street, and - I'm not saying there's anything moving forward with Corrie - was just great… Walking on the street and seeing The Rovers, it's just like, 'Whoa, I'm here.'"
"It feels like you're starting your career again. Every day's a school day, and you should always be really appreciative of every job you get," added the star, who said she didn't mind being "stereotyped" as a "standard baddie".
But while Hollis is glad to be in Weatherfield, she did express hope that there could be further scenes down the line, noting: "If they said, 'We'd love you to come back for a few months', let's see what happens, of course I would say yes. I'd be an idiot to say no."

It remains to be seen how Paula's return will affect Debbie, but we do know that the pair will clash following a run-in at the Chariot Square Hotel. It comes amid a busy week for Debbie, with the popular character making an error at work.
Hollis teased the scenes with a video on TikTok, writing: "Obviously I can't tell you what's going to happen or what's going on, but let's face it, it's Paula so it ain't going to be good is it?"
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
