St Pancras station evacuated as 'controlled explosion of unattended car’ sparks delays to rail services

St Pancras station was evacuated earlier today after the controlled explosion of an “unattended car”, sparking delays to rail services.

Emergency services scrambled to the the scene on Tuesday before evacuating the busy travel hub.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed a “controlled explosion” took place and said that the incident has since been deemed non suspicious.

Photographs posted online show a police cordon in place as a robot appears to approach a silver Nissan with its bonnet open and shattered glass scattered around it.

The rear of the vehicle also appears to be badly damaged, with debris strewn across the surrounding area.

Officers could be seen directing people away from the station while the controlled explosion was carried out.

Customers have since been told it is safe to re-enter the station.

After the station reopened, normal operations resumed within approximately 15 minutes.

Eurostar services are now operating as normal.

However, it would appear that services are now running as usual.

A spokesperson for National Rail said: “Trains are now running normally now the emergency services are safely clear of the railway at London St Pancras International.”
