GPL 2026/27: Berekum Chelsea held to goalless draw by FC Samartex
Berekum Chelsea and FC Samartex 1996 played out a goalless draw in their Ghana Premier League Round 8 fixture at the Golden City Park.
Both sides started brightly, with an end-to-end opening period producing few clear-cut chances.
Berekum Chelsea gradually settled into the game and enjoyed spells of possession as they looked to break the deadlock.
However, FC Samartex goalkeeper Musah Zakaria proved crucial, producing an important save in the 40th minute to deny Chelsea during a dangerous counterattack.
Chelsea continued to threaten after the break, with Attuquaye testing the Samartex goalkeeper again in the 54th minute with a well-struck free-kick.
Zakaria remained resolute between the sticks as the hosts, Berekum Chelsea pushed for a breakthrough.
Berekum Chelsea came agonisingly close to snatching a late winner in the 90th minute when a header from a cross narrowly missed the target.
Despite their efforts, neither side could find the decisive goal as the contest ended goalless, with both teams settling for a point.
The result leaves FC Samartex 1996 third on the Ghana Premier League table with 15 points, while Berekum Chelsea sit 10th with 11 points.
