2027: Village Boys Movement mobilises Abia grassroots for Obi

The Village Boys Movement, a support group for the presidential aspiration of Mr Peter Obi, has commenced grassroots mobilisation in Abia State ahead of the 2027 general elections, vowing to ensure that the people’s votes are protected and counted.

The Abia State chapter of the movement made this known in Umuahia while explaining its mission and objectives during a rally, describing itself as a national grassroots platform for Nigerians who believe in Obi’s vision for the country.

The state leader, Barrister Nkasiobi Madumere, who is addressed as the “Headmistress,” said the movement’s immediate objective was to take Obi’s message to the grassroots, mobilise voters and sensitise them on the need to defend their votes in 2027.

She said the group was committed to delivering Nigeria to Obi and ensuring that no form of electoral malpractice would frustrate the people’s mandate.

According to her, the movement comprises Nigerians across political divides who believe that Obi has the capacity and willingness to address the country’s challenges.

“We are grassroots mobilisers. We want good governance, a better Nigeria and a Nigeria that works for all of us,” she said.

She explained that the movement’s strategy was to return to the villages where most Nigerians came from, mobilise and sensitise the people and prepare them to protect their votes.

The Abia leader, however, clarified that the Village Boys Movement was not an NDC structure, despite Obi’s presidential candidacy being under the party.

She said the movement was a national platform headed by its National Headmaster, Mazi Tochukwu Ezoke, with other national officers including Ben Chukwu and Dr Justin Kingland.

She stressed that membership was open to Obi supporters irrespective of their political party, including members of the Labour Party, PDP and other parties.

“This is a structure for people who believe in Obi’s candidacy. Anybody who supports Obi and wants him to become president is welcome on this platform,” she said.

She added that the movement would also work with willing candidates contesting under the NDC while maintaining its identity as an independent support platform for Obi.

The group said its mobilisation drive would culminate in a stronger grassroots network across Abia and other states, with emphasis on voter sensitisation, electoral participation and protection of the ballot.
