Tripura ranks 2nd in Northeast in GDP, per capita income: Manik Saha on I-Day

Tripura chief minister Manik Saha on Saturday said the state ranks second in the Northeast in terms of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and per capita income, while highlighting the development achieved in the state and the country over the past 12 years.

Addressing the gathering on the 80th Independence Day after hoisting the national flag at Assam Rifles ground on Saturday, CM Saha said, “As GDP of our country has increased, simultaneously, GDP of Tripura also hiked. Tripura is now second in Northeast zone in GDP. We also hold second best position in per capita income. Niti Ayog labelled Tripura is the frontrunner state. Our state is second from lowest in law and order sector across the country”.

He added that a wave of enthusiasm was created throughout the entire nation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s way of celebrating Independence Day since 2022 through initiatives including ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ and several other programmes, which he claimed to be important for the next generation.

“This is important for the next generation to instill spirit of patriotism among them and to inform them about sacrifices made to make the country independent”, said CM.

He said that tremendous development was witnessed in 12 years in different areas, including national security, infrastructure, employment, employability, roads and road infrastructure.

“There has been huge development in road, infrastructure, airway infrastructure, internet and management of airspace..India reached at the top across the world,” said CM, adding that India became powerful, citing surgical strike, air strike, Operation Sindoor.

“Its not only to celebrate Independence Day, but also to compare how much we approach forward. Though it’s 80 years of Independence, the development happened in 12 years was not seen before”, he said.
