Mimifly wins all, Siti Nurhaliza took home Best Vocal while Aisha Retno snatched Best Album at AIM 25

KUCHING, September 27 — Singer and composer Mimifly scored a major victory at the 25th Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM25) last night, emerging as the biggest winner of the evening with five trophies.

Her impressive haul makes her the most decorated artist of AIM’s Silver Jubilee edition—an achievement made even more remarkable given her status as an independent artist.

Broadcast live on TVS from the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), the event saw Mimifly win Best Musical Arrangement in a Song for Nara, Best Festive Song and Song with the Most Created Videos on TikTok for Serumpun, as well as Best Music Video and Best Electronic/Dance Pop Song for Temberang.

Meanwhile, National Songstress Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza also recorded a proud achievement by bringing home four trophies including for Best Female Vocal category for Kesuma, Best Traditional Song and Best Song for Pesanan Buat Diri, as well as Best Collaboration by a Local Artist and International Artist/Composer for Cenderamaya.

She previously dominated the nomination list with 14 nominations including Best Album for her traditional album Gema Bumantara.

Meanwhile, Aisha Retno took home three trophies through her album [RE.HAB], which was named Best Album and also bagged the Best Album Recording trophy.

The 26-year-old singer brushed off competition from four other formidable works: Sa25 by Shila Amzah, Album: Lelaki Gila (Naim Daniel and Adnin Roslan), Gema Bumantara (Siti), and Jati Diri (Faizal Tahir and Let Zapin).

Winning the Best Album category also means Aisha will take home the RM200,000 in cash under the Digital Content Fund (DKK) provided by the Ministry of Communications through MyCreative Ventures.

Aisha also won the Best Local English Song category through her song O.R.B.I.T. 

Up-and-coming boys’ group Alpha also made waves at their AIM debut despite the boys not being physically present at the event as they just hosted their first solo concert in KL last night. 

The seven-members group was named the Best New Artist for their song Mona Lisa and had also won the Best Pop Song category for their hit song P.Ramlee Saloma while the Best Group Vocal category was won by Nasyid group Inteam for Satukan Kami Di Syurga.

For other spotlight categories, newcomer Arddley Nicholas pulled off a surprise victory by being crowned the Best Male Vocal Performance winner for Sandiwara Cinta, edging out competition from Hazama, Pasya, Ryenald Guntabid, and Syamel.

Marsha Milan etched her maiden win on the AIM stage by taking home the Best Ethnic Song category for Pelangi Pasti, composed by Amir Jahari.

Meanwhile, Hazama, fresh off the Mansur & Liu Musical residency at Istana Budaya recently also marked a personal milestone by taking home his first-ever AIM trophy in the Best Original Soundtrack for Film/Drama category for his song Aku Bukan Narsisis. 

The Best Borneo Song category which debuted at this edition of AIM saw Sarawakian-born singer Mawat snatch the prize for his song Dayang Bintang. 

Rock Queen Ella Aminuddin was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award or also known as the Sri Wirama Award in recognition of her contributions and achievements in the national music industry.

The climax night of AIM 25 at BCCK featured performances by a lineup of popular local artists, including Siti, Adira Suhaimi alongside her eldest child, Anggrek, and Akim Ahmad.

Not missing out were performances by Alena Murang, Marsha Milan, Hael Husaini, Mimifly, Hujan and Estranged as well as Indonesian singer Fajar Noor. 

Also present were Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

According to AIM Organising Committee Chairman Rosmin Hashim, last night’s AIM 25 was by far the longest in the event's history. The main ceremony ran from 7:30 PM until nearly midnight, with post-event press conferences dragging on until almost 2:00 AM

“I am thrilled with this Silver Jubilee edition of the AIM awards held here in Kuching, Sarawak. 

“I believe this was the longest AIM ceremony yet, which is perhaps a historic milestone in itself. 

“Even though it ran quite long, I am certain the audience was thoroughly entertained by tonight's lineup of performances,” Rosmin said. 

The Silver Jubilee edition of AIM25 also marks its first time being held outside of peninsular Malaysia in its over 30-year history.
