Presley Gerber Died in Rehab Facility, Medical Examiner Confirms

More details have come to light about Presley Gerber’s tragic death. 

After Cindy Crawford’s son—whom she shares with husband Rande Gerber—died on Sept. 20 at 27, the Los Angeles Medical Examiner confirmed that the model’s place of death was at a rehab facility.

Though Presley’s cause of death has yet to be determined, a rep for his family, including sister Kaia Gerber, confirmed his passing to TMZ, sharing that they’re “asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time."

Before his death, Presley shared he was undergoing treatment for his personal struggles.

In a video shared to his Instagram March 26, Presley said he would be undergoing an “ibogaine flood dose.” 

Ibogaine, according to Stanford Medicine, is a naturally occurring psychedelic found in the roots of the African shrub iboga, which has been used for centuries in healing ceremonies. But recently, it’s gained popularity for its potential to treat drug addiction. 

In the caption of Presley's post, the Southern California native noted he's “praying it’s the last time I have to come back.”

And his family proved they had his back as he sought the help he needed.

“You are a warrior!” Cindy commented at the time. “Walked thru the fire to find yourself! So proud!” 

Meanwhile, Rande commented, “I’m so proud of you and your courage. Facing what’s hard takes real strength and watching you find your way back to yourself is everything. I love you so much” before Kaia chimed in that she was “so damn proud” of her brother.

Previously, Presley shared deeper insight into his mental health journey. 

“I've had a lot of loss in many different forms recently,” he said in a Dec. 2025 Instagram video. "That is not an excuse, but it's the reason—or part of—why I am where I'm at now."

He went on to share the medications he'd been taking, noting he didn’t “have as much direction” on his dosages as he would like.

“Every psychiatrist I've had—and I've had, like, 15—they're all like, ‘Here's 20 medications,’” he recalled. “‘Take this if you feel like this, take this as needed.' And I'm like, ‘No, don't give me that much leeway. I need some direction.’”

He was also open about wanting to make a change in his inner circle.

“I've grown up in Hollywood, and there's a lot of people around that I love to death,” Presley said, “but right now, I try not to be around them.”

And just last month, Kaia, 25, commended her brother for being “this absolute teacher” for their “very, very private” parents when it comes to speaking out about hardship. 

“My brother, who says, 'I’m gonna be very human for everyone,’” Kaia told Vogue in an interview published Aug. 11. “There’s only so much you can hide from the world. And trying to put a lid on something just makes the person feel like you’re ashamed of them."
