Packers RB Jacobs pleads no contest to misdemeanor charges

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of battery and criminal damage to property at a court hearing in Green Bay, Wisconsin on Thursday.

Jacobs was ordered by the presiding Judge to pay a $1,000 fine plus court costs on the battery charge and a deferred judgment agreement between the prosecution and Jacobs' attorneys was accepted. A follow-up court date was set for Sept. 10, 2027.

"I fully understand the seriousness of the situation and I take full responsibility," Jacobs said.

The NFL placed Jacobs on the commissioner exempt list after charges were filed Aug. 27 stemming from a May 23 incident with a woman at his home near Green Bay.

With Jacobs' plea, the NFL is likely to remove Jacobs from the exempt list and instead issue a suspension to the running back. The standard suspension for domestic violence cases, per the collective bargaining agreement is six games.

According to the criminal complaint, there is surveillance video of the portion of the alleged incident that occurred in Jacobs' garage. The woman was trying to exit Jacobs' garage when he "grabbed her and threw her to the ground and she struck her head, suffering an injury," according to the complaint.
