Tokyo Int'l Film Fest to Screen Cherry and Virgin, ghost – end of night, More Anime
The "Animation Section" will screen the following films:
- Masanao Kawajiri's original film Cherry and Virgin. The film will open in 2027.
- ghost – end of night (ghost/yoru no hate), Shingo Natsume and Madhouse's new theatrical anime project. The film will open in Japan on February 11, 2027.
- Atsushi Nishigori's original anime film Grotesqqque (previously titled Grotesque). The film will open in Japan on November 6.
- NOTHING NEW and director Kōhei Kadowaki's We Are Aliens (Ware Ware wa Uchūjin) anime film. The film will open in Japan on September 25.
The "Women Directors: Diverse Visions" section will screen the following films:
- Detective Conan: Fist of Blue Sapphire (Meitantei Conan: Konjō no Fist), the 23rd Detective Conan anime film. The film opened in Japan in April 2019, and sold 1,458,263 tickets to earn 1,886,292,700 yen (about US$16.85 million) in its first three days. The film earned 9.37 billion yen (about US$86.2 million) by the end of 2019. The film was the seventh consecutive Detective Conan film to become the highest-grossing film in the franchise.
- Gold Kingdom and Water Kingdom, the anime film of Nao Iwamoto's Kin no Kuni Mizu no Kuni manga. on October 21. The film opened in January 2023 in Japan. The film earned 85,896,750 yen (about US$659,000) in its first three days from Friday to Sunday.
- The recent anime film of Riyoko Ikeda's The Rose of Versailles manga. The film opened in January 2025. The film earned 108,158,300 yen (about US$704,200) in its first three days.
The tie-in TIFFCOM 2026 industry event will feature the following seminars at the Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Trade Center Hamamatsucho-Kan venue:
