For many, Disney Lorcana may simply be a very fun collectible trading card game. However, in true Disney fashion, the game tells an epic tale of adventure, mystery, and danger that gets expanded on with each new expansion's release. It can become a bit much to try to follow if you're new to the game, which is why Lorcana breaks the overarching story up into smaller arcs that are much easier to follow.
Each story arc in the Disney Lorcana world lasts for about four chapters (aka expansion sets) and culminates in an Illumineer's Quest game. The broader story is also told in greater detail through the new Quest of Wonders book and in each of the Official Collector's Guide books.
Right now, we are at a pivotal time for Disney Lorcana, as one of the most exciting story arcs is wrapping up with the upcoming release of the Illumineer's Quest: The Great Hunny Rescue.
The third story arc allowed us to follow along as our favorite Disney characters began to investigate a mysterious well in Fabled and then dove into a mystery in Whispers in the Well regarding a strange inkwell plant, later known simply as "the vine." Winterspell told of Elsa's attempts at freezing the plant to stop it, but the magics clashed to instead cause a snowstorm to hit the world, burying everything but somehow the vine still thrived.
Wilds Unknown opens with the Illumineers being scattered across three areas and everyone attempting to get home, all the while the vine still grows and prevents their reunion.

This third arc is the first time that five sets have been part of the story arc, throwing off a bit of the timeline, but still being quite fitting given how important this thread is. Set 13, Attack of the Vine!, brings even more characters into the fight against this massive threat, with everyone taking the offensive against this evil corruption.
Now, this entire storyline of the Vine will culminate on October 2, 2026, with the release of the Disney Lorcana Illumineer's Quest - The Great Hunny Rescue. After Piglet gets pignapped by the Vine, the cast of Winnie the Pooh forms a D&D-style adventuring party to save him and defeat the Vine for good.
Looking forward to the next set, Disney Lorcana: Hyperia City appears to be a bit of a breather set that doesn't really introduce the next story arc yet, but that's what many thought about Fabled as well. So it will be interesting to see if that does play a part in the upcoming Disney Lorcana storyline. Set 15, Into the Inkdark, certainly seems to be heavy on the story, as it focuses much more on Disney villains.
