The Royal Family have shared a heartwarming tribute to Dolly Parton following the iconic singer's death aged 80. The sad news of the star's passing was confirmed yesterday, with her family saying she "died peacefully" in Nashville, Tennessee.

An outpouring of tributes have since come in, with the Royal Family now commemorating the icon with the Band of the Coldstream Guards performing her hit '9 to 5' outside Buckingham Palace.

Sharing the clip on Instagram today, the official account wrote: "Remembering the late, great Dolly, who brought joy, comfort and inspiration to so many - including the millions of children given free books through her Imagination Library. We will always [love] you."

Among the others who have paid tribute to Parton is Graham Norton, who said it was "heartbreaking news", adding: "She was the best of us and lived her life in a way we should all aspire to. Her talent and humanity were beyond compare. I will always miss you."

Singer Billy Ray Cyrus recalled "so many moments and memories with Dolly" and that she "recently sent me a beautiful message, telling me she loved me with her whole heart", concluding: "I will always love her in the same way ….. with my whole heart … and I always will."

"I am devastated," added 9 to 5 co-star Jane Fonda. "I just learned that Dolly has moved on.

"I know that millions are mourning and I want to say this – more than anyone I have ever known, Dolly will always be with us because she was so present, so powerful, so generous and playful that she is woven into all our lives and hearts forever."

Parton's family have since confirmed in a post that she will have a "small" and "private" funeral as per her wishes.

"A rhinestone life that shone bright enough for the world to see, Dolly will forever stand as an inspiration not only through her timeless music and prolific songwriting, but also her wit, warmth, and kindness that made us all feel like family," the post added.

"Dolly Parton’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and resilience. With a seven-decade career, she inspired multiple generations of artists and fans with her music and an unwavering commitment to making the world a better place," it continued, saying her songs "will continue to resonate with people of all ages, and her philanthropic work will have a lasting impact".
