Translate

A 75-year-old man has died following a workplace incident at a mine site in Western Australia's Goldfields.

The incident happened at Regis Resources' Duketon South operation, about 130 kilometres north of Laverton and more than 700km from Perth.

Emergency services were called to the mining camp at Bandya about 12:30pm on Friday, November 6, where mine site medical staff provided first aid before they arrived.

The man could not be revived.

Regis Resources confirmed the man was a member of its contract team and was carrying out work at the Duketon South operation when the incident occurred.

Regis Resources says operations at Duketon have been stood down while investigations continue.

WorkSafe is investigating the death, with investigators and inspectors making arrangements to attend the scene as soon as practicable.

WA Police will also prepare a report for the Coroner.

WorkSafe Commissioner Sally North has extended her condolences to the man’s family, friends and colleagues.

Regis Resources says it is providing support to those affected by the incident, with employee assistance programs activated.
