A 97-year-old man's 'dramatic exit' has left people across the globe shocked, after he died at his own birthday party moments after he danced to the Bee Gees song Stayin' Alive.

Baker Eden Malinoff, who is based in Los Angeles, California, took to TikTok earlier this week to share a video of a cake she had made for her neighbor, Vito's 97th birthday bash.

However, she revealed in the now-viral clip that the 'rager' ended in disaster after Vito passed away suddenly in the middle of the party in front of all the guests - and the story has completely captured the globe.

Malinoff began by explaining that Vito threw a party to celebrate his 97th birthday last week, and had enlisted her to make a cake for the party.

She shared footage of herself baking a red wine chocolate cake - inspired by his love of alcohol - as she said in a voiceover: 'In true Vito fashion, he wanted to celebrate by throwing a Halloween birthday rager.'

Malinoff went on to praise Vito for his spunky personality, explaining: 'If I learned one thing from Vito, it's to never let your age stop you.

'This man lived his life to the fullest, all the way up until his last moments, quite literally. At 24 years old, I could not keep up with this man, he was the life of the party.'

Malinoff then revealed that 'unfortunately, the night did not end as anticipated.'

Baker Eden Malinoff shared footage from her neighbor, Vito's 97th birthday bash. However, she revealed in the now-viral clip that the 'rager' ended in disaster as Vito passed away suddenly in the middle of the party

'Vito made a dramatic exit,' she continued. 'If there's any way he could have chosen to go out it would have been like this.

'He was surrounded by people he loved, we were celebrating his long and full life, and I'm just so grateful I got to be a part of it.'

She also included a clip of Vito dancing at the party to the Bee Gees song Stayin' Alive, as well as one of her presenting him with the cake.

Dressed in a black, button-down shirt and dress pants, Vito was seen clapping and swaying to the music with a big smile on his face.

'RIP to an absolute legend,' she captioned the video.

It immediately went viral, raking in more than eight million views in a matter of days, and it turned the late 97-year-old into a social media sensation.

Some people shared their shock over the way he died, while others branded him as 'iconic' and cracked jokes about it.

'You can’t introduce us to Vito and take him away in the same story!' one user jokingly commented.

'Wait dying at your birthday bash is kinda fire,' another wrote.

'Well... I guess he was the life (and death) of the party,' a third comment said.

A fourth read: 'Vito made sure it was a party yall will never forget.'

Some people, however, were unamused by how 'nonchalant' Malinoff was about his passing and slammed her.

'Why are you so nonchalant about him literally dying?' asked one viewer, to which she replied: 'We think Vito was ready to go. He had such a long life and his death was just as iconic as he was.'

'Using a man's death for advertisement is a new level of low in capitalism,' someone else said.

'This desensitized retelling is dystopian AF I fear,' a different user penned.

'This can’t be real why would you be so lighthearted about your friend dying in front of you?' wondered another person.

In another comment, Malinoff clarified that Vito did indeed die 'at the party right in front of [her].'

Another friend of Vito's also confirmed his passing.

'Best friend of Vito here. He did pass away that night surrounded by his best friends just after we sang him happy birthday,' they wrote.

'He got a good dance in right before. It was an amazing birthday party. He had some medical issues that we didn't know the severity of, and he passed away peacefully with his favorite music going. Rest in peace, you legend.'
