Big 12 Roundup: Are Utah Utes The Class Of Big 12 After Crazy Weekend?

This was perhaps the wildest weekend in the Big 12 football conference.
The BYU Cougars, who were coming off a huge win against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, were upset by the UCF Knights. The Texas Tech Red Raiders, who are the defending conference champions, were knocked off by the Cincinnati Bearcats.

That leaves the Utah Utes as the only remaining unbeaten team in the league. So are they the class of the Big 12?
It sure seems that way.
But the Utes will have to prove their worth the rest of the season. They have one of the most challenging schedules for the remainder. First, they play the Bearcats this week, who have been solid this season. Then they face BYU, which is still one of the top teams in the nation.
They also have the No. 22 Arizona Wildcats in the month of November. So, for now, the Utes are the class of the league, but we will see what happens the remainder of the year.
UCF KNIGHTS MAKE HUGE DECISION

UCF Knights coach Scott Frost is rewarding Keyone Jenkins' program-lifting performance, naming him the starter going forward after the UCF Knights upset the then-No. 2 BYU Cougars.
Frost said he wants to ride the "hot hand" even though star transfer Alonza Barnett III, who won the job, is close to returning.
Jenkins recorded his second straight game with 200-plus yards and four touchdowns. He threw for a season-best 293 yards and three touchdowns, and rushed for 35 yards and one touchdown.
WHAT'S UP WITH K-STATE QUARTERBACK SITUATION
Wildcats coach Collin Klein is listing quarterback Avery Johnson as day to day entering this weekend's game against the Colorado Buffaloes and coach Deion Sanders. Last week Jacob Knuth filled in for Johnson, who has been the starter for the last three years and had his 32-game streak interrupted.

If Johnson is unable to go, the Wildcats will once again go with Knuth. But even Knuth is dealing with injury. Klein said he sustained an ankle injury in the loss to the Arizona State Sun Devils.
So the Wildcats could be dealing with some serious quarterback issues the remainder of the season. The position hasn't been fully healthy all season. It could lead to a disappointing year in the beginning of the Klein era, who took over for the resigned Chris Klieman.
The hope is Johnson is back under center this weekend but Knuth was solid in his debut.
