The Legend Of Zelda: Trails Of Time Officially Unveiled

The Legend of Zelda's 40th anniversary celebrations really have been a particularly happy time for the fan base as a whole, and while there were some concerns in the early portion of it, Nintendo has really delivered on marking it overall. There has obviously been the raft of announcements and confirmations that we received as part of the recent, dedicated Zelda Direct, which chiefly served the purpose of showing us a lot more of the upcoming movie adaptation, and the Ocarina of Time Remake which is scheduled to release in November.

Up to that point, the latter had remained a total mystery, with a teaser of just a few seconds showing Link asleep on his bed at the start of the game. Now, we know a lot more about what we'll be getting, with more emerging all the time from the developer themselves, including a new post that confirms a pretty major addition that should make the playing experience a lot more modern.

Over on Twitter/X, the official Japanese language profile for Zelda shared a post confirming a new feature that's set to be included in the Ocarina of Time Remake. The post reads as follows:

"This is a new feature that allows you to confirm your next objective or look back on your adventures so far. Additionally, as you progress through the adventure, a large tapestry painting gradually fills up."

It essentially sounds like it's going to function as an interactive adventure log, and a variation on the usual menus while still including the quality-of-life features that fans now expect. Plenty of fans weighed in to respond to the post with their own thoughts on the system, and overall it all seemed fairly popular.

"Trails of Time is like an adventure logbook, I suppose. The idea of a large tapestry painting is intriguing too. Like a group photo of the sages including Saria, akin to the Poem of the Heroes including the Hero and the Princess," one comment read.

While another added their thoughts on everything we have seen so far, saying, "The time-traveling makeup, the graphics are unbelievably gorgeous, and the level of detail in the crafting is incredible too! I just hope those dark elements like the blood-soaked Dead Hand or the blood at the bottom of the well don't get censored. It's the contrast between light and dark that makes this game so uniquely special, after all."

The Ocarina of Time Remake is set to launch on November 5, 2026, or exactly two weeks before the release of GTA VI, if that is how you're currently measuring everything at the moment. That should give you plenty to do in that final fortnight, before presumably half the gaming population is lost to the siren's song that Rockstar has been cooking up.
