Kaizer Chiefs academy graduate Happy Mashiane is poised to sign for Siwelele FC after searching for a new club since June.

The Tembisa-born left-back, now 28, trained with Stellenbosch FC for several weeks in July. Unfortunately, coach Gavin Hunt decided against signing him.

SIWELELE FC KEEN TO SIGN DISCARDED KAIZER CHIEFS GRADUATE HAPPY MASHIANE

After Mashiane had trained with the Bloemfontein-based club since September, the club’s new coach, Godfrey Mosoetsa, has revealed he is working on signing Mashiane.

“He started during the FIFA break. He has been training very well,” Mosoetsa told journalists at the Carling Knockout Cup Last 16 launch on Wednesday.

“There are just a couple of things that need to be sorted out administratively, and then we will take it from there. You cannot deny the fact that he is a very good player.

“He’s got PSL experience; he played for Kaizer Chiefs while he was still young. So he has much to offer,” added Mosoetsa.

EARLY PROFESSIONAL CAREER

Mashiane started his journey at Tembisa Black Pirates before moving to the Mamelodi Sundowns Academy and Future Through Football Academy.

In 2015, he moved to Kaizer Chiefs’ Naturena where he soon played in the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) in 2018. The arrival of Ernst Middendorp in December 2018 was followed by Mashiane’s promotion to the senior team in January 2019, aged 19.

Mashiane would become a key player during Amakhosi’s FIFA transfer ban years. As one of former coach Gavin Hunt’s favourites, he Infamously suffered a red card in Kaizer Chiefs’ CAF Champions League final against Al Ahly.

He joined Siwelele FC on loan in the 2025/26 season. Following the conclusion of his loan spell, Kaizer Chiefs parted ways with Mashiane after a 12-year spell.
